I went and saw Star Trek today.

Oh. My. God.

I don't really know how they managed to include pretty much my EVERY FAVORITE THING about TOS, and yet produce something so new and fresh. New (and incredibly talented) actors was part of it - even though the characters were the same, the new generation of actors, with the justification of a seriously altered timeline, brought their own touches. (Welcome, CRAZYPANTS!Spock - thank you Seperis for that name). ;-)

There were no duds in this movie - no dead moments. Everything started and just kept going, and kept me guessing the whole way!

*love*

I may need to write more Star Trek fanfic.

:-)

I squeed sooo much after I saw it. I was so happy that it had been as good as it was, and that they'd managed to preserve the ST magic while making it all shiny and new for us.

And if you do, I may need to read it. :-)

Welcome to the unbelievably-fannish-about-Star-Trek,-again! side.

It is CRAZY how much I love this movie - I don't think I've wanted to re-watch a film in the theater since Matrix - which I saw four or five times IN THE CINEMA.

This - God I just wish I had the money. I loved this movie. This has to be one of the best reboots - in or out of comics - EVER!

That movie SO TOTALLY ROCKED!!!
fave line -- *out of the chair* -- so OMG!!! I may have made high-pitched fangirl noises in the theater. Zach Quinto owns my soul, now.

Yes! OUT OF THE CHAIR!!!!!

OMG! I ALMOST DIED! I TOTALLY EMBARRASSED MY CHILD IN THE THEATER IN THAT SCENE!!!! HEE!

Yes!! And I've seen it *4 TIMES* already, including once for IMAX!!! I'm bemused at how it's absorbed me. I don't think anything's eaten my brain like this since Star Wars back in 1977...how sad is that ???

btw, Zachary Quinto reads the audiobook, and it has a few tidbits not in the movie, so if you get a chance, I seriously recommend the audiobook. 8 hours of Spock talking is positively orgasmic *g*

I would love to see this on an IMAX screen!

OMG! Where can I find the audio book - because for this I will pay ridiculous prices!

*off to search iTunes and Amazon*

I know it's on itunes, hoping to find it on cd at B&N for my mom :-) The IMAX was big and loud *G* I wish I'd see it there first time!!!

Don't you love the altered timeline thing? Everything in TOS is still valid, but everything's up in the air again. Genius.

I may need to write more Star Trek fanfic.

*encourages you*

I do. I do love the time line thing.

They have NEVER just left it before! And while I know this was for pecuniary reasons within the franchise? I. Don't. Care.

It is FUCKING BRILLIANT!

It makes me want to pull out "Amanda's Endgame" and think, "Okay, how would THIS go in world without Amanda? Where all of Spock's belongings are gone, his culture threatened, and the pressing need to repopulate the species will make any sexual liasons fraught with ramifactions that never existed in the old ST Universe."

God - so many plot bunnies, so little time.

I remember all the bitching about the reset button in Voyager, and I sigh a bitter sigh. :)

Oh, yeah - I remember that. God I loved Voyager - and I was so not happy with how they did time. Although the time eps were always my favorites, I always new there would be that safety net.

"And then they woke up and it was all a paradoxical time loop!"
